At 7:15 PM, I checked my phone.

At 7:30 PM, I started making excuses for them.

Traffic.

Busy schedules.

Unexpected delays.

At 8:00 PM, the food was getting cold.

At 8:15 PM, my phone buzzed.

The message came from my mother.

“Sorry, something came up. Busy tonight.”
