I returned a lost wallet full of cash at the auto shop where I worked—by the next day, a sheriff was standing at my door with a surprise I never expected.

It slid out from under one of the vehicles — worn, scratched, bulky. I picked it up and looked it over. It felt heavier than it should.

I probably shouldn’t have opened it.

But I did.

And the second I looked inside, I froze.

Bundles of it.
